Question Perception

The O’Hanlon Photo Group (OPG) has another show going on now that’s called Light and Shadow. I have two photos in the show, one from the Valley of Fire in Nevada called Crazy Fire (amazing colors!), and another I took at the Rosie the Riveter Museum in Richmond, shown here:

The show is at the Bank of Marin at 19 Sunnyside Ave, in downtown Mill Valley. The bank is open from Mon-Fri 10-6. The exhibit will be up from 3/27/18 to 6/15/18. Hope you can come by to see it!

The O’Hanlon Photo Group (OPG) has a new exhibit up at the Mill Valley Public Library entitled Blur.  It’s a group exploration of what photographers can do when they let themselves take photos that are not fully representational–they can produce photos with almost painterly qualities, and surprising effects.  Here’s the blurb about the show:

I have two photos in the show, called Tulip Joy (which I showed in an earlier post) and Prismatic #1. Prismatic is a series that you may see more of soon. If you’d like to check them out, the library is at 375 Throckmorton Ave in Mill Valley. It’s open from Mon-Thurs 10 am – 9 pm, Fri  12-5, Sat  10-5, and Sun 1-5. The show will be up from 4/2 – 4/30/18.

I have one photo in the Blue exhibit at the Gallery in the O’Hanlon Center for the Arts in Mill Valley. The whole exhibit explores the wide range of shades that we call blue, and the moods and feelings they can represent.

My photo is entitled Fractured Forest #3; it’s one of a series I took of ice on a pond at my dad’s house in Connecticut–it was 15 degrees out when I took them! Here’s another one of the series:

If you’d like to see one of the others in the series, please drop by. The O’Hanlon Center is at 616 Throckmorton Ave, Mill Valley, about a mile past the library. The Gallery is open Tues-Fri 11-3, and Sat 10-2. The Blue exhibit will be up from 3/29-4/19/18. Hope you can make it!

My Soul Reflections show has moved from Cafe del Soul in San Rafael, where it was shown for six months, to the Cafe del Soul in Tam Valley.  This theme is an exploration of the different ways that reflections can expand our view of the world. The show is a selection of eight photos from the larger collection that was shown in San Rafael.  Here’s one of the photos from the show:

If you’re interested, you can see the exhibit at 247 Shoreline Hwy, Mill Valley. The restaurant is open from 10 am – 8 pm every day of the week. The show will be up from 4/4/18 to 7/1/18. I hope you can come check it out!

I went to the Artists’ Roundtable at the opening for the O’Hanlon Center for the Arts show called Essence of Water, which I have one photo in.  It was well attended, and it’s always interesting to hear what each artist discusses about their creative process. I talked a bit about my “Monet at . . .” theme, and also provided a quote that inspires me. Pablo Picasso said it: “The meaning of life is to find your gift; the purpose of life is to give it away.” My goal is to create like that, and to live like that.

The photo is called “Monet at Mill Valley,” and is part of a new theme I’ve been working on.
